In 1999, a small group ceramic artists, who outgrew class area at the Archie Bray, decided to start their own work space. From that original group of seven artists the Clay Arts Guild was founded. Today The Guild is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with a membership of 50 practicing clay artists, (and one attention-demanding cat).

We are governed by an all-volunteer eight-member board which meets once a month. Each May an annual membership meeting is held for major business decisions.

We are located in an industrial park on eastern edge of Helena, Montana - and bring a bit of class to an otherwise drab portion of Helena.
STOP BY AND VISIT!!

FIVE GREAT GUILD TIDBITS:

1. ALL MEMBERS HAVE 24/7 ACCESS TO THE STUDIO.

2. Our 6,780 square foot facility has everything a well stocked ceramic studio needs.

3. In 2007 members of the Guild completed "Jerry" a large soda kiln. Our community works on Guild projects together!
**The soda kiln was partially funded by a grant from the Jerry Metcalf Foundation.**

4. "Janey" is a new member to the kiln family as of late September 2009. She is already busy keeping her burners lit! Her big brother MAC has joined her in the yard as well, say so long to backlog.

5. FINALLY, AND MOST IMPORTANT WE ARE A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS WHO SHARE THE JOY OF PLAYING WITH MUD.
